The holiday season is often full of family, friends and food – and it’s the perfect time to spoil yourself. But don’t trick yourself into thinking your holiday eating has to ruin all the hard work you’ve done. Check out these tips from Jenny Craig to get a healthy jump on the holiday season:
- Stay active. Whether it’s a neighborhood walk or a turkey trot, get outside and catch up with family in the crisp fall air.
- Eat smart. Don’t overfill your plate. Just grab enough food to fill you up, while making sure you’ve stocked up on healthy veggies and salad. And don’t be too hasty grabbing seconds – with a little bit of time and a glass of water, you might realize you’re full after all.
- Catch up with friends. Skip the chip and dip appetizers and fill your pre-dinner time up by catching up with friends. You’ll be less likely to munch on snacks if you’re busy socializing.
- Avoid leftovers. Instead of tempting yourself, encourage your family to take a to-go box home. And don’t forget to donate any nonperishables to your local soup kitchen or homeless shelter.
